Installation Guide

Key points for installing WANNABES WPC products. For large or special projects, please consult a professional installer or our technical support.

1. Base Requirements

The installation base must be level, solid and well-drained. A joist (keel) substructure is recommended to ensure air circulation beneath the boards. Joist spacing should be within 30 cm.

2. Expansion Gaps (Critical)

  • Side to side: whichever fixing method is used (clips or butt joints), leave an expansion gap of at least 3–7 mm between board sides.
  • End to end: leave at least 5–8 mm where board ends meet.
  • Perimeter: never fix boards tightly against any rigid structure (walls, posts, curbs). Leave at least 10 mm of expansion space on all sides.

3. Fixing

  • Always use WANNABES recommended stainless steel / aluminum clips and screws. Two boards must never share a single fastener.
  • All screw holes must be pre-drilled, with the drill diameter slightly larger than the screw shank. Never hammer screws in directly.
  • Do not over-tighten — boards must retain slight freedom of movement.

4. Cutting & Finishing

After cutting, sand the cut edges and, where applicable, apply the dedicated sealing glue to improve appearance and moisture resistance.

5. Cleaning & Maintenance

Routine cleaning with water, a neutral detergent and a soft brush is sufficient. Avoid strong acids, alkalis or corrosive cleaners. Stubborn stains can be wiped with alcohol or a dedicated cleaner.

Decking Installation Steps

1

Lay the joists

Level the ground, lay the joists at a spacing of 30 cm and fix them. Install the first board, fixing screws through the side groove.

2

Install the fasteners

After fixing the first board, install the plastic clips. Do not fully tighten the screws yet — this makes fitting the second board easier.

3

Lay the boards

Fix the second board, then repeat steps 2 and 3 across the whole area.

4

Finish the edges

Once all boards are installed, fit the edge trims with screws at a spacing of about 40 cm.

Please note: This guide covers general key points only. Specific installation plans should be adjusted to the actual project design and local climate conditions.
